I am so guilty of not living in the now. I know I’m not the only one. There are so many of us that don’t live in the now. What do I mean by this? I mean I’m always looking forward. I’m always thinking about what I have to do 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day from now. “Oh my word, I must almost go to bed. What am I going to wear tomorrow? I still need to send that email.”. STOP IT! Think about the now and just be. Be in the moment. I’m never just in the moment.
That’s what I’m going to try do. Whenever I’m sitting still around people I’m also always busy checking my email, Facebook, Instagram. And that’s because we live in a busy busy world. But, I think, just maybe, possibly, I could still be in the now and get shit done.
So, I’m going to try a little experiment for myself. For one whole week, I’m going to be in the now as much as I can. I’m going to focus on being in every conversation, every situation that requires me to be in the now. I’m going to give as much of myself as I can. I can’t promise 100% attention, because well I’m a woman and I’m human, and my mind wonders. But, I am going to give as much of myself as I can and I promise to try give all of myself too. I’m going o focus on the now. Let’s see if it works.
The plan for today
Lilah has a play date today and I didn’t know if I could spare the time to have tea with the little girl’s mother. But, then I thought; “I can work an hour later tonight to catch up the hour of work I miss when I have tea with her”. This is me trying to be in the now.
So for today, I’m going to try to enjoy the playdate with the girls. I’m going to have fun. I’m going to have a little tea, and a chat. I’m going to be in the now with people. Because, people, my friends, are very important for your relationships in life and business. Duh! So let’s try this ‘being in the now’ thing out.
I’m then later going to be all in in the now when I give my all to my work. I’m going to hustle like it’s no one’s business and put in some extra heart on top of that. — Oh, and I’m going to be watching the Apple launch. Fingers crossed for the new iPhone. — And I’m going to enjoy the fact that I spent some quality time with my daughter too.
So, what are you going to be doing so that you too can ‘be in the now’?
