After you by Jojo Moyes was sadly a book that left me disappointed and wanting more. It wasn’t particularly a bad book, my expectations were just so high.

Before reading After You by Jojo Moyes
Month: March
Format: Audible
Cost: 1 credit
Thumbs up/down: Thumbs in between
Rating: 6/10
What i loved: I loved Louisa’s mom and how she came out of her shell.
What I hated: I found the book to be rather slow paced and not much happened
My favorite part: I loved when they released the balloons at the end
What is my first impression of the title, the cover, back cover blurb?
I had high expectations because “Me Before You” was such a huge hit. Although, the book blurb didn’t really interest me or the cover. This is one book that I definitely read because it was the follow-up to a good book.
While reading the book.
What was my initial reaction to the book?
I was drawn in immediately. I thought it would take me longer to get into this book, but I was hooked from the start. Later, though, I seemed to loose interest.
What was my favorite quote/passage?
You don’t have to let that one thing be the thing that defines you.
Did I find any themes throughout the book?
Loss and drawing away from society
Which character did I like the most?
Louisa, of course.
What three words would I use to describe the book?
Slow. Grief. Forgiveness.
How did I feel about the ending?
The ending was sweet but nothing great. I liked the balloons but I didn’t like that there were no big actions taken. I was disappointed, only because I had such high expectations.
What type of reader would be interested in this book?
Young Adults. And, if you loved Me Before You, I would suggest you read this just to find out what happens.
What is my biggest takeaway from the book?
To me, it was interesting to see Louisa change throughout the book. I also feel that everyone copes with their struggles in different ways, and that’s okay.
