I struggled a bit to get into the book but I kept reading. And I’m so glad I did.

“She didn’t know what it meant, but along with her power pulsed horror like she’d never known”
Did you find any themes throughout the book?
Alcoholism. Solitude. Deceit.
Which character did you like the most?
What three words would you use to describe the book?
Magical. Intriguing. Mystifying.
Your major emotional responses to events in the story?
I really pitied Bleak. I was rooting for her all along and her drinking problem made me want to help her. I wished that I could help her at some parts.
What does the story do best?
This story’s world is so well depicted. I have such amazing images in my mind.
What type of reader would be interested in this book?
Fantasy lovers.
What is your biggest takeaway from the book? Did you learn something? Change your mind about something? Gain new insight?
As the Spider-man quote goes “Along with great power, comes great responsibility” This is the same for Bleak and her powers. And in life. Sometimes we wish for more power but we also need to be aware of what will come with that power.
